Sorry to drag this out even more, but there were a few little details I left out of my last two posts here and here about Bouchercon.

I’m sure you’re thinking, Good God! Is she ever going to blog about anything else ever again??? Well, the answer is yes, I will. Totally. I promise I will. It’s just that these little details seemed really important and worthy of mention.

I’ll keep this short, okay? :)

First, you know how I got a bit freaked out flustered by the idea of appearing on camera at the great big SinC event?

Well, right before I left for the conference, I watched this episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm with Michael J. Fox in it. #curb

Michael J. Fox simply amazes me. I’m in awe of him, frankly. If he can act with Parkinson’s Disease, then I can write with dystonia, am I right? #dystonia

Anyhow, there was one scene from this episode where Michael actually mentioned dystonia!!!! On HBO!!! I was SO thrilled. I turned to my husband and said, “Did you hear that? He said he has dystonia in his feet. Oh, my God!”

Here’s the scene!!! The mention takes place at around 1:30.

Please understand. I’m not thrilled that Michael J. Fox suffers from dystonia. Quite the opposite. I’m so sorry he has it. Believe me. I speak from direct experience. To have dystonia AND Parkinson’s — well, that totally sucks ass. :(

However, I AM thrilled that he mentioned it. Because so FEW people have ever heard of this condition. I knew Parkinson’s patients could suffer from it, but I didn’t know that Michael J. Fox was one of them.

I once blogged that Helen Keller was an inspiration to me. Michael, you’re my latest and greatest inspiration. That scene gave me the boost I needed, when I needed it most. Thank you, Michael J. Fox!!!!

So now I’m following Michael on Twitter, along with @MichaelJFoxOrg and @TEAMFOX. Yay!!! :-)

And, yes, I’ll admit I was a wee bit nervous about the big SinC panel thingy (especially with cameras and all). Basically, I was worried I’d end up sounding like I was saying this. LOL! Thanks, Jenny Lawson, aka, the Bloggess, whose awesome words I stole borrowed in order to make my point. :)

I don’t know, maybe this really tells you everything you need to know about how I “built my brand” or whatever it was I did.

I think this tune captures it quite well. Thanks, Jenny! :) Nice one.

Plus, I’m so retarded forgetful, I failed to mention that I met the awesome Stuart Neville in the hallway at Bouchercon. And I introduced myself and told him I just adored his novel COLLUSION, which I reviewed in Mystery Scene Magazine ages ago last year. He seemed like a really nice guy, too. And me with my burgeoning readership in the UK and all … *sigh*

PS: I simply can’t resist adding in that International Talk Like a Pirate Day was celebrated shortly after I came home. And Paul Downie put this video up on his blog.

Ebooks and piracy … get it? I don’t really have to spell it out, do I? :)
